Supporting local businesses

SBF keeps its finger on the pulse of the industry by maintaining excellent relations with its members. Regular Local Association meetings ensure members can come together with SBF officials and like-minded companies to discuss the issues facing the construction industry and to explore potential solutions.

Scottish Construction Monitor

Each quarter, SBF members are invited to complete an online survey, known as the Scottish Construction Monitor. The Monitor canvasses members’ views on the current state of the industry and the outlook for their own business. This survey provides a vital ‘state of the industry’ snapshot, exposing the true trading conditions for construction companies across the country. Running continuously since 2008, the Monitor is well-established and widely viewed as an important barometer of confidence within the Scottish construction sector, regularly generating widespread interest and media coverage.

Each Monitor also includes a ‘hot topic’ question, which gauges members’ views on a specific aspect of the sector, such as expectations for activity, employment, profitability, sales or forward orders.
SBF uses the information from the Construction Monitor to lobby the Scottish Government, and others, to ensure legislation is industry friendly..

Alongside the free services offered to members, SBF has negotiated a number of exclusive offers and discounts on building materials and equipment from some of the industry’s leading suppliers. Visit www.scottish-building.co.uk to view a full list of the available deal.
